what's the best set up for recording on a laptop with a condenser mic?
i recently came up on an SE X1 (yes, "sex one") condenser mic. I'm thinking of getting a USB converter or adapter. I've been told to try out the "Blue Microphones Icicle XLR to USB Mic Converter/Mic Preamp", but I read some reviews that complained about it's noisyness. any suggestions?
I would go with a USB Condenser mic personally. Don't go for the adapters because as you said, they can distort things. You want a Condenser Mic that is made specifically for the USB application. I personally recommend the Yeti USB Condenser mic from BLUE. They also make a pro version of that mic that is a bit higher quality
