How to use an EV 664 Microphone for recording?
I have an old EV 664 microphone. As far as I know it all works, but it has this old 4-pin connector instead of an XLR, How can I still use it?
I'll take a stab at this:
looks like pins 2 and 3 are connected in common, pin 1 is the shield (earth), pins 2 & 3 are designated as white (-ve) and pin 4 black (+ve).
I found a wiring diagram (see URL below) and a very detailed description of the unit.
In theory you can connect the mic outputs like so:
EV 664 pin 1 connects to pin 1 XLR
EV664 pins 2&3 connect to pin 3 XLR
EV664 pin 4 connects to pin 2 XLR
Please note I don't KNOW this, it's just an informed guess
